Let's Build Some Characters-Skills

Once the character's natural Abilities are determined, the player will want to choose Skills that compliment the role they have envisioned.

Most skills have a base Ability that they derive from. Most Melee Skills are derived from athletics, because coordination (more then any other factor) determines success. So, if characters choose to train in any Melee Skill, their Athletics Ability will determine their natural advantage over others. Thus, if two different characters both take 1d6 skill in staff, and were sparring against each other, the one with the higher Athletics Ability would be rolling more dice to determine success. This is because, the player can opt to use all their athletic ability to back their attack, thus adding those dice to their staff wielding skill for the contest.
